Meet Our Staff
We have experienced and tenured staff who are committed to the field of early childhood education and who display a natural aptitude for working with children. All staff are trained in first aid and infant/child CPR and receive at least 20 hours of training per year in child development and related subjects.
All of my adult life, I have worked with children in some manner. Upon completion of my BA degree in Sociology, I worked as a Child Protective Caseworker, then as a Licensing Representative for the state of Texas. I have directed church sponsored child care centers for 25 years, the last 12 years at St. John's. This is my calling, this is what I enjoy doing. I love hearing the children playing and learning in their classrooms. And it makes my day when they come by my door just to say hello. I am proud of the Center and of the staff. The Staff have a cooperative, supportive spirit which makes us a wonderful team.
I have been involved in Early Childhood Education since the age of 16, as an assistant teacher. Upon completion of my BS in Sociology at the University of California, I taught toddlers at a child care center in Round Rock for two and a half years. Then I had opportunity to teach English to young children in South Korea for 6 months. Shortly upon my return to the States, I came to St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center. I love teaching children and having an impact on their hearts and minds. It is extremely rewarding to work with the Pre-k class laying the foundation for their success in Kindergarten.
Preschool Teacher: Heather
I began my teaching career in 1995 at Memorial Baptist
Christian Schools in New Orleans. In 2001, I married, moved to Austin
and have been happily employed at St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center
ever since. Teaching 3 year
olds is a tremendous blessing to me.
It gives me great joy to see children grow in knowledge and in
the love of the Lord.
Preschool Teacher: Diane
I have worked in child care for 14 years.
The first nine years were with Bethany
Lutheran. I came to St. John's Child Care in April, 2005.
I am the mother of 3 and am currently
attending ACC working on an Associate Degree.
I have been working in child care for about 6 years with the last two here at St. John's Lutheran Child Care. I love my job. I love being with the children and seeing them grow and learn. I can't see myself doing anything else.
I love working at St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center for many reasons. I've attended church here my whole life and plan be be married here soon. I found my place here working with the toddler class. Even though I work hard, the children are sweet and fun to be around.
Hi! I have been in the early childhood education field for 23 years. I wear many hats as a floater at St. John's. My duties are substituting in the classrooms when needed, giving breaks to the teachers, assisting in the kitchen and doing whatever needs to be done. I have been at St. John's for two years. This place feels like home!
I have spent a lifetime working at St. John's Lutheran Child Care Center. I started out as a teacher 34 years ago and have been the cook for the past 20 years. I get great pleasure from preparing nutritious meals for the children and helping them to learn to eat a variety of health foods. At the end of lunch almost every day they say "thank you, Mrs. Gomez". In my position I get to see each child every day. They are a blessing!
